The Girl with the Utility Fog Tattoo
Another addition to my foglet characters, folks who are from a time when utility fogs are housed on a persons body in the form of tattoos that can be used for any number of things. if you're unfamiliar with the concept of utility fogs then please read this -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Utility_fog
The ORB WEAVER!
A couple of versions of a superhero kind of character my fiance inspired. She's sort of a Spiderman style character in that her main means of conveyance is climbing and jumping, also there a little spider she talks with when she's bored. Mostly this was done with pencil then layering over it with markers and a quick pass with the pen.
Vampires and Shoggoths
Part of a short horror story I've been working on about a vampire like creature that infects animals and gets them to bring the blood back to its cave. The creature itself is a bit formless, not unlike a shoggoth out of a Lovecraft story, so it fills a large cavern in its cave like some terrible red lake.
Carrying the Fire
I did this after watching a few post apocalyptic movies. I was kind of in one of those, "Man, we might be in some trouble here." moods. I think overall he came out pretty well, or at least I accomplished what I wanted to with the piece.
Birds and Dresses
This was a quick sketch I did while waiting for coffee (yes, again) and when I got back to my seat thought why not give it a little color. I think I may have overdone it a bit with the black but overall it's not my least favorite every drawn.
Cartoon Fiance!
My lovely fiance decided to draw some cartoons of of herself while she had some time on her lunch, I liked it so much it made me want to do a quick one too. This is that, a cartoon of my very sweet fiance Jackie.
A woman in ink
A quick doodle done while waiting for coffee. Not entirely a waste of time but I think it was maybe a little hasty and kind of went away from what I wanted to accomplish.
Dryad and Red
This was intensely fun to do, I haven't done any dryads or woodland elfy things for a while now and feel like this came out fairly well. I added a little red monster in there just to add some scale and contrast to the long, spindly character. I'd love to take this and put it on something like a bookmark but at this point it might be better to think about kindle covers no?
The Lady and the Horns
A quick study from life drawing book, not my best work but it was fun to do. I felt since I was working out of a book there wasn't much reason to keep it to serious and figured, "You know what? HORNS.". I've seriously got to go and find a life drawing session somewhere around me. Any one know of a good one around Seattle?
Ellie and her cat "Kettle"
Again Ellie in the same vein of markers and color. I felt it might be cute to see her with some kind of pet, not exactly what I wanted but all in all I think I like the way it came out.
Ellie and Her Scarf
Ellie with a scarf! I've been trying more and more lately to give markers a bigger hand in my work, especially if I want to do something in the realm of children books and illustration. I've always liked the way marker, both with color and grey scale can enhance the emotion of a drawing. I know it seems a bit silly but it really does seem to add something in the way of life to a piece.
Another Round of New Sketches!
It's that time again, I've been crazy busy with wedding planning and all sorts of doings so posting my pictures has once again slowed down. By which I mean I haven't updated "sketch every day" in many, many days. So in lieu of an apology here's pictures!
